Solar Specialists - Exclusive Interview: Meet Robert Wade, the Director of RJW Electrical Services Ltd.
Today we've set up an exclusive interview with Mr. Wade to give you the inside scoop on the business, how RJW was born and what their future plans are in the ‘world of solar.’
“Can you begin by introducing yourself and tell us how it all began?”
"Hi my name's Rob, director /owner of RJW Electrical Services Ltd. I live in Lochmaben with my family after moving to the area when I was 3 years old.
I started an electrical apprenticeship at 15 years old and since then have always worked in the Electrical industry.
About 16 years ago I decided to set up on my own and ran a small electrical business for years.
After building up a good reputation for high quality work and great customer service I took the step to employ someone.
From then on things grew and I continued to increase the business workload enabling me to employ more staff and give them the opportunity to work."
“How did PV solar become such a huge part of your now successful business?”
"I decided to go on a training course for solar PV over 13 years ago and, upon completion, it was at that point we started offering solar as one of our services.
Over the years it has been a constant source of work for us but over the last 2 years especially, the demand for the requirement for Solar has increased massively and also the additional need for battery storage."
"It has always been a family run business, with my mum in the office and dad helping with accounts. My son is now working for us, but I like to think we are one big family with 28 employees and we strive to give the best to our customers."
“What has been your biggest business accomplishment so far?”
The biggest accomplishment for me personally, I think has to be being able to provide many people with jobs and opportunities.
By paying a competitive wage and providing a happy working environment for everyone, we have grown a highly skilled team of engineers who have instilled great work ethics and who deliver a first class service every time.

“What does the future hold for RJW as solar specialists?”
The future is very bright for us right now. We are looking to continue the way we are and hope to provide a lot more people with the opportunity to save money by installing solar and battery systems.
We have a few new and unique ideas in the pipeline just now and hope to introduce them in the coming months.
